For all the former Bulldogs, Bulldogs supporters and current players, I’ve got a couple of minutes before work, I’ll try and recap the weekend for you. It really was a tremendous team effort, forgive me if I forget to acknowledge the occasional individual.

First game was against Boston. It had been raining most of Friday and at 9am the fields still had puddles.

What I remember most was it was challenging to stay on your feet and be able to hold on to the footy. At half time it was a close game, maybe one point in it.

The second half was a little better and we pulled away. Final score Denver 4.7-31 Boston 1.2-8.

A win is a win but it was an expensive one for us. Ben Harling received a compression blow to his neck. He suffered a fracture to one of his neck vertebrae. Luckily no spinal cord injury. He was out of hospital Saturday night. He’ll be in a neck brace for 6 weeks. Tommy did his MCL, and I got forced into a pretzel position and did my hammy. This match-up also saw Willi play in his 100th USAFL game.

The 2008 Nationals is in the books and after a sloppy, wet, cold one in Colorado Springs, the Dogs ultimately fell short of their goals. A few of the bright spots on the weekend: the women's club making it to the semi-final against Calgary and showing Atlanta they are to be reckoned with. Men's Divvy 1 squad keeping the unbeaten steak over New York and Orange County alive. The first time in Dogs history they've fielded 3 complete sides in the competition. The fantastic effort of all the new players. Rookie shots. The great turn out and atmosphere of our function Sunday night. Tom, Dom, Bruce, Wads & Richie putting in way more than was required, requested, and expected. Crickets. Bayden somehow slipping past the mighty border patrol. Feds giving up a knee for the boys. Allicia giving up a knee for the girls. Dom striving to leave no joint intact. The RV. The fire that has been lit for next year. Janice showing a complete disregard for a beautiful face. VIP drink passes. First USAFL coach's yellow card. And a hundred other moments that make this one hell of a footy club.

Winner of the Aspen Ski Package raffle: Amy Kennedy of Denver, CO. Pictures of the weekend can be seen all over Facebook as well as here and here

The Bulldogs travelled to Portland, Oregon this weekend to take on the Portland Power, the Vancouver Cougars and the Seattle Cats. The tournament was held in a one day format, with all the matches played on Saturday.

Fresh on the minds of everyone was the stinkup in Florida and no one was going to let that happen twice. This was apparent right out of the gates as the Bulldogs met the hosts Portland in the first match. Denver came out on the good side of the tilt, beating them 8.2 to 2.6.

The second tilt of the day saw Denver matched up against Vancouver, and that they did fairly well. From early reports the Dogs were firing on all cylinders and left the field hanging 69 on the Cougars.

Playing in their very first tournament, the newly formed women’s team of the highly successful Denver Bulldogs Australian Rules Football Club showed that they too are going to be a force in US Footy.

Nichols Park in Mesa, Arizona was the site for the Duel in the Desert tournament which was attended by last years National Champion Atlanta Kookaburras, Runner-ups Arizona Hawks and a Denver Bulldogs team that also featured four players from the Milwaukee Bombers.

The Denver Bulldogs women's team went 1-1, beating Arizona in their first game ever, and losing to Atlanta to gain a split in their first tournament as a full squad. A well deserved win with all the hard work they've put in. Congrats to all the girls, as well as Dom in his role as coach.

No. 3 seed Denver rolls through Pool B to take their sixth USAFL National Championship in 8 years!
The Grand Final featured Denver vs. San Diego in a tough match. Many felt that San Diego had the upper hand going into the tilt, and for three quarters of the game it appeared they were right. But a gutsy, gritty performance coupled with Denver's never-say-die attitude sparked a legendary comeback in the second half. At the final siren, Denver made good on their quest for six. More details and pics will be posted shortly.

In another fantastic performance on the weekend, Denver's Reserves side led by Larry & Billy won their competition on percentage after throttling the Golden Gate reserves side 112 to 13, the highest point total and differential of the entire tournament.

And in a first for the Denver womens side, they combined with a skilled Arizona Lady Hawks to claim runners up in the womens comp.
