Western Regionals Tournament in Denver/Colorado Springs

June 4/5   Match Report by Ben Harling

The weekend started with a sense of deja vu. The field booking had been canceled again, this time due to persistent rain instead of snow.

An emergency meeting was called to order at the Lazy Dog Sports Bar. And much to Jedi and Obi’s disappointment, a ground was secured just as the first round of drinks was being discussed. It turned out a field was available one hour south in picturesque Colorado Springs. And finally the footy got under way at 1:30pm…

The Saturday night function at the Lazy Dog was well attended, with all teams participating in the now traditional Rookie Shots and Clanger Awards.

Sunday morning saw clear skies and a happier Tommy Ellis. The Dogs finally got to host some legal, dry, snow-free footy in the city of Denver.

The Denver Bulldogs Football Club would like to thank all clubs, players and supporters who traveled to the Mile High City to make this Western Regionals a successful tournament.

Thanks to Umpires for doing their thankless job and to all the guys who pulled on jumpers to make up numbers for other teams.
